After the Casas Adobes Massacre, a Campaign about Spending
The Arizona 8th Congressional District is up for grabs again.
But this seat held by Gabrielle Giffords has been surrounded by tragedy for a year.
On January 8th, 2011, a deranged college student, 22-year-old shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords through the front side of her head, and then shot 18 others before he was subdued. Six died as a result of the shooting.
Ms. Giffords' point-blank wound miraculously did not kill her. She has valorously fought back from this debilitating brain injury to return to the world. Her recovery, though, is demanding, and she has announced her retirement from politics pending further notice.
But this hateful act that took the life of a 9-year-old girl, and a Arizona District Court judge, was immediately attacked in concert my the gatekeepers of the pro-Democrat American Press Corps. Some singled out Governor Sara Palin has having incited the drug-using assassin by referring for GOP-targeted Democrats as being "in the crosshairs" of Republicans. Jane Fonda blamed her, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party as inflaming Loughner to strike. However, further probes into Loughner's life showed he enjoyed an obsession with two of History's most famous Socialists: Adolf Hitler and Karl Marx. Enter Ron Barber and Jesse Kelly.
Ron Barber was at Giffords' side on that fateful Saturday. He was shot twice: in the face and in the leg, and spent a week in hospital.
Jesse Kelly is an ex-Marine, who has served our country with distinction.
Keeping this election about the porous border and runaway crime in the Arizona 8th District will be a hard task. Holding Democrats accountable for the $15 trillion in exploding debt they have slammed into America's breadbasket by three years of consecutive $2 Trillion deficits will be another salient point of debate. But America's editors and publishers in the "News" industry will hardly permit that debate to see much print. They'll bring this election back to January 8th, 2011, and hold it there for as long as they can.
We endorse Jesse Kelly.
Ron Barber, we applaud your recuperative powers, and your courage in staying in the public eye. But sir, if you cannot damn this President for his spending; if you cannot damn this administration for its attacks upon Arizona for defending its own border while Uncle Sam feeds guns to drug-runners, then, sir, you are simply part of the problem.
And, despite our support for the recovery of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, we can only condemn her deplorable spending record. She voted for BIG GOVERNMENT 86% of the time as a Congresswoman.(Click here to go the American Conservative Union Congressional Ratings)
American cannot long survive Congressional spending records like Gabby Giffords, or, for that matter, of her aide and supporter, Ron Barber.
